Click to expand.I used to think this but then I fished with a couple of guys who had them and the difference really sold me on them. They completely take the fatigue factor out of the equation when you're fishing 600 feet or deeper. The guys reeling by hand will catch 2 or 3 sub-25 lb halibut, throw them back, 2 or 3 bait checks or pull up and move a few times and then after that, they want to keep the next but that comes up because they are worn out pulling chickens up from that deep. Or they can't snap the pipe jig properly because they are too tired so they don't get bit as much. The guys with electric reels don't get tired so they can sort through lots of chickens and keep only the ones that are higher grade. When you only get to keep one fish, it's much easier to make it count with electrics.
